FCO Advise Against 'All But Essential Travel' To Tunisia

Published by Natasha Beaumont on 10/07/2015

The Foreign Commonwealth office has advised against ‘all but essential travel’ to Tunisia as another terrorist attack is ‘highly likely’.

Between 2,500 and 3,000 holiday makers are planned to be evacuated by Travel Agents and Tour Operators within the next 48 hours; as they try to get in touch with third party airlines.

Tunisia is currently on high alert as terrorists are still believed to be in the country. Armed security now ride on buses as tourist feel ‘disappointed and afraid’ leaving them with no option but to leave.

Don't Invalidate Your Insurance

Thomas Cook like many travel providers have cancelled all flights to Tunisia until the summer season ends. If you are affected by this change in advice, we highly recommend that you contact your travel agent or operator to change your holiday destination or get a refund before cancelling or curtailing your trip. If unsuccessful, give us a call before making a decision yourself as we will outline your position and we ensure any potential claim is reviewed individually so you know whether or not any claim you make will be successful.

For clients who are currently in Tunisia you must contact your travel provider or rep to arrange homeward travel if they have not contacted you already. Most travel operators have promised to return all of their clients within the next 48 hours.

We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate to all holiday makers that your Travel Insurance will be invalidated if you travel to Tunisia against the current advice.

For any further queries about your cover please call your local branch today. It’s always best to give us a call before amending your booking to ensure you’ll be entitled to claim successfully.
